Hello, again...

Its been 8 months since my last post! 8 months! Obviously keeping up with a blog is a little more difficult than I had thought so kudos to all you ladies and gents out there who are able to do so! Unfortunately as my migraines endure my artwork suffers so new pieces have been few and far between. I did however manage to work on pieces for http://artglitterblog.blogspot.com/ during the months of June, July and August which was a great experience.

Some of my newest pieces are Christmas ornaments, I decided this year to start early, or at least for me it is early! I always seem to wait until the last possible minute to work on them and then feel rushed to get them listed and sent out. Two of the first ornaments to make an appearance:

Merry Christmas in the ocean depths

Also, I finally listed a Marie Antoinette doll I had been working on for what seemed like, forever. Everything about her is hand stitched, body, gown, hair and her face painted with acrylics. She was given the royal treatment.

Below is my new business card, still working on the backside where my contact information is. Hopefully they will be done soon and sent off to the printers!

Well I do sincerely hope it is not another 8 months before we meet again. I had wished this to be a place I could explore new ideas, show new pieces, share techniques, exchange ideas... not gather dust. A little more effort on my part is necessary, I agree.

A New Year

Finally getting back into the "groove" again. Finding time to create and the motivation to create. I had a rough couple of months when I first moved back and wasn't ready or willing to get on with it. But I am very excited to announce I will be reopening my store this Saturday the 16th as a little New Years celebration mostly for myself with a full stock of art work, I have been wanting to do this for some time but never had the momentum to do so!

I will be listing soldered pendants, lots of phrase collage signs, a few dolls, lots of atc's, metal frames, crowns, a wand or two, even some new creations like embellished cards, prints and totes. For Friday and Saturday (the 15th and 16th) I will be having free shipping on all my items. I hope you find the time to sneak a peek and maybe stick around and shop a little :)

I cant wait to see what everyone has been up to since I have been M.I.A. I miss all the inspiration I get from your blogs and creations. Have a wonderful week! - Cassandra

saying goodbye.

It has been quite awhile since I've been able to post, or even create. I have been busy packing, having a garage sale and losing my mind... just a little. As some of you know from my post on flickr I am moving home to Arizona, after 2 and half years of living out here in Mississippi with my boyfriend. Just me and my daughter will be moving back and it is so hard to say goodbye. But I know it is for the best, for both of us. He is a good man and my daughter and him have such a strong bond (they share the same humor!) but our relationship isn't as strong. And financially I am unable to make it out here, I havent been able to complete school or even find a full time job. It has however given me some life lessons some good and bad that I have learned from. I will be on my journey in a budget truck cross country pulling my car the first week of July. So until then I will not be able to post very often if at all and most likely will not find much time to create or keep up with anyone elses blogs! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoys the wonderful summer ahead!

Ms. Eloise and her magical pink slippers

Ms. Eloise wears her magical slippers everywhere she goes and for every occasion.
She is 9" tall and 2.5" wide at her hips. She loves to dance, have tea parties and she always fancies a game of make believe. She will be available in my etsy shop tomorrow, along with her own atc. She was created with love, hand sewn, hand painted and ready for a new home.

a "seacret" garden

I was going through my books today and came across my secret garden book. I read it so many times as a child, I was fascinated by it and would always fantasize about my own little secret garden, maybe someday I will be able to recreate my image of the garden. Until then! I was inspired to do a mermaid piece entitled "seacret" garden. I added every kind of millinery flower that I own and a beautiful antique skeleton key I had found over the weekend. In addition a small rhinestone encrusted vintage earring with a screw back which I thought fit perfectly.

I painted a metal frame (another vintage find!) with my favorite paint color and built up from there. I love to use tissue paper as ocean water or the ocean floor since it layers well and I can easily "stuff" little treasures into it.

baby doll

Last summer while I was visiting my grandmother in Arizona I found several bags FULL of vintage baby doll parts, most of them are hard plastic faces. I have saved a few for myself but can not use them all! I've listed them on etsy today for the price that I bought them at. I hope they will inspire some fun pieces!!

I also have some skeleton keys and other odds and ends I will be listing by Monday. It has been such a hectic week, just trying to make it through!

I hope everyone has a wonderful mothers day! Some vintage photos for you to use in your artwork (please do not use these on CD's or collage sheets, thank you!)

I dream of mermaids...

This is my first tussie mussie cone that I have listed to sell. I have made some for friends and family and filled them with fun goodies like charm bracelets and small knick-knacks, photos, flower arrangements etc. I was hoping it would inspire someone else to do the same.

I bought the cardboard cones from a fellow etsy seller caramelos she always has great trim and other additions for altered art.

I added a mermaid tag with the word "dream" I hope it inspires whoever purchases it to do just that. I feel like we don't get to really DREAM often enough!

Beauty is not in the face, Beauty is a light in the heart

A few vintage photos for your personal use. Please do not put them on CD's for resale.

ENJOY!

I find all of these vintage photos so charming. The children always remind me of porcelain dolls.
